Just as not all climate solutions are created equal, neither are they funded equally.
As shown in the chart above, climate funding from many streams – philanthropy, venture capital, major legislation – is misaligned with the sources of emissions. Some sectors, specifically electricity and transportation, receive a significant portion of the funding pool, whereas others are starved for capital. And while it’s true that different challenges require different levels of financial support, we need substantial investment across every sector to stop climate change. Therefore, better alignment between emissions sources and capital investments can help ensure that essential climate solutions and sectors are not left behind.
